One of my Golden Comets is an very early layer. It seems she lays earlier and earlier every day. In any case, I went out the let the girls from their coop at 6:10 am this morning and checked the nest box. No egg. So I just by chance decided to open the coop and look around and sure enough an egg had cracked onto one of the lower roosts. The egg shell was cool already and the yolk was kinda dryin up on the wood so I am wondering if maybe she laid before sun up and couldn't find her way to the nest box. What do you all think? Should I be worried?

She just laid at night. It happens sometimes. Put straw or more chips underneath to catch the egg if possible. Mine did that occasionally when they were first starting to lay.
