"I don't see any reason to go to the basement though. If we are to find Lark we are likely going to have to go up the stairs, and that guard isn't going to let us slip by so easily." The guard revealed itself to be a large great dane pacing on the tile.

Cairo bolted out to the exit as fast as he could as soon as he was unshackled. "Thank you, Kate." Not waiting for an answer he took a deep breath as he dove into the water, ignoring the cold. Being a lab he could swim rather well and was paddling up rather quickly.

Thistles took another deep breath as she walked towards where the guard was pacing. It stopped as it heard her wing flaps and moved its ears around. "Halt!" It shouted.
