As Kate ran, she listened carefully for Cairo's mind eye, ready to shut it down the moment he tried to use it.

(They can still go around 55 miles an hour in normal flight and snowy owls can go about the same speed, but ah well)
Nero shot high into the sky, almost 600 feet into the air. Using his great sight he could see a very faint dot flying away. He continued flying at his normal speed, higher into the air slowly to prepare for his attack.
