Kate shuddered inwardly as she neared her teams headquarters.

A small arctic wolf pup lay in her path, howling as best it could to call for help. Its breath rattled, blood was splattered across its body, and bones had clearly been broken by the odd positions of her legs. It was a wonder how it was alive nevermind howling the way it was.
