I am looking for actual Lamona's.

I know the breeders are supposed to have hidden flocks somewhere or that is a myth.

It seems to me that they would want to make sure they don't go extinct if they aren't already.

I read one breeder has created a Bantam variety from the same basics.

Any info greatly appreciated....Lynne

I read somewhere that they were thought to be extinct, but then two separate flocks were discovered. The owners of those flocks wanted to keep things hush hush while they worked on expanding their bird population. I've not heard/read anything about them since.

we have a breeder here in Oregon that has a HUGE Lamona operation.
He gave us 30 for a hatching project about 3 yrs ago. Most of all of them hatched.
They were very pretty birds.

I guess I was wrong and I do apologize to you all.

I called him and he has not lamonas but Lomans. sounds the same but i guess this is a bird that is a amazing egg layer but not much is known about it.

I agreed to get 2 dozen eggs from him at $10/doz so if you guys are still interested I can mail them to you, I will just get the shipping to add to it, if not, I guess I will hatch them myself.

Sorry about the confusion. I swore he said Lamona because when the babies hatched they looked exactly like them.

Take care guys!

No worries. With a breed that rare, I was surprised to see someone had some they were offering.

What exactly do they look like? The ones he has that you hatched. Were they white eggs? Lamonas were meant to be a dual purpose bird but weren't the greatest layers. They fall/fell under the "fair" category for that.

They are wonderful egg layers he said and they are white birds, though they hatch kinda yellowish.
