OK, Lance started getting a red comb at like 2.5 weeks. Sweetpea is still yellow after 7.5 weeks and smaller. No wattles and acts hen-ish. However, those tail feathers are what is bothering me. Can y'all take a look and give me a few guesses. FYI they are a mix-breed... most likely Leghorn or White Rock Daddy and possible Dominicker Mom.

She's a pullet.

When we say "pointy feathers" we mean her ACTUAL back. The saddle area. The best I can describe it as...the place where her hip meets the body.

The smaller comb, wattles and lack of pigment in her facial features, ALONG with the fact she has no pointed saddle and hackle feathers tells me it's a pullet.

I was just explaining this to my son and used this pic of my SLW roo, Lacey, to show him how saddle feathers look like a roo is wearing a pointed-feather saddle on his back. I showed him the pointy hackle feathers on Lacey's neck too. Hope this pic helps.

rodriguez is right about her being a pullet. But dont mind what she said before me, sometimes people are rude, sometimes on purpose and sometimes by mistake.
But like I said the chicken is a pullet.
