goosedragon I was busted out and that is a long story that involves a lot of chicken poop! Transferred to an oil tanker out of Norfolk mess cooking again. Taught myself enough to earn an E-4 rating as a Radarman (operates and repairs Radars) and that is where I watched the Cuban Missile Crisis, refueling the blockading ships at sea
My Dad's brother was a radar specialist on a destroyer based in Okinawa back then. (My Mom's brother was a Seabee, electrician, out and dairy farming by then, as were her parents and my family.) My Dad was a crew chief on C47s.

If you remember "the Days", pre-OSHA, pre-EPA, having fun on the job, beer parties, training films, scandalous literature in the restrooms, smoke breaks, and other such foolishness, one is an official dinosaur.

I was full-time Texas ANG (that a good hint?not really ANG could be Air or Army) No, NG is National Guard falls under Dept of Army. ANG is Air National Guard and Falls under Dept of AF.Sorry I though the army was just to lazy to use the A Maybe so. The ANG was an afterthought.

I bet you do have a boatload of good stories! I'd love to hear them someday!​
