HELP!!! My chickens got into my patio that contained a plant called lantana, not sure if they ate any, what signs should i look for as far as sickness, also what about their eggs? Should I throw them out as I gather them??

Well I do know that Lantana is poisoneous, just didnt know how it would effect my hens, and their eggs?

Since it affects the nervous system and is artropine like: Dilating of pupils, dry mouth, increased heart rate, loss of balance. You're going to have to observe them closely for these symptoms. If you see them, I would toss the eggs in the garbage during and about 3 days after the symptoms have stopped...if your chickens survive. Chickens usually can discriminate what's good for them and what's not edible...perhaps nothing will come of this at all. I've seen mine eat all kinds of plants, including wisteria flowers which are supposedly poisonous...and yet they are as healthy as can be, and we continued to eat their eggs. Good luck.

Thank you, I will keep an eye on them, hate tossing the eggs, but rather do that than get sick..Hope they will be ok we have raised them since they were chicks

Leaves generally aren't toxic, it's the green berries that are. Mature (black berries) are actually an importent food for migratory birds.
