My toshiba laptop will not turn on I press the power button and next to the battery icon next to the mouse blinks orange and I plugged in the charger and it still will not come on I took out the battery and put it back in and it still will not come on?

What do I do?

Thanks

Try putting a paper-clip across the connections to "short-out" the battery for just a few seconds. Then charge the battery again.
It MIGHT "take a charge" after that.''

OTHERWISE....go buy a NEW battery.

just MY thoughts.......OTHER FOLKS might have "better-ideas".

GOOD LUCK !!!

NOTE: I am ONLY talking about the Battery...NOT shorting-out the Computer. IF you try my suggestion ....do it ONLY with the Battery!

Take the battery out, unplug it an stick the laptop in the fridge for an hour. Then put it back together an hope it works... Yes I know it sounds odd.

If what Junkmanme suggested doesn't work, you should hopefully still be able to keep your laptop plugged in even if it's not charging. I have to do that with mine because I'm too cheap to buy a new battery on this stupid laptop when I can just replace it

Take out the battery and plug in the power cord. Make sure the wall plug actually works. If this fails, you may need a new power cord.

I had to return my laptop (Toshiba) to the repair center, (less than a year old). It would start cold, but if you rebooted it, it would not start hot. Been working fine since - over a year now. If you have a bootable cd or dvd you could test it with that. I keep a dvd with Linux on it that I can boot from the disc. Well I run Linux on my other laptop, (an HP). Linux is a free operating system you can download from the Distrowatch website.
