So I have owned ducks for 3 years now. 2 of my ducks I raised myself from hatchlings (one is a Peking female who is 3 years old and the other is a Peking mallard male who is 2) I have never really had issues with these two health wise (outside of my female not laying eggs but that’s a story for a different time) I thought I was pretty educated in ducks until now.

Last year I adopted 5 Cayuga ducks and 1 Peking from a neighbor. These poor babies were in terrible condition. They were kept in a dog cage all day with no access to water and only fed chicken feed. It took months but we eventually got them much healthier. The Peking turned out to be a male who is actually quite mean so we have him separated from the girls. I currently now have 4 Cayuga girls (one passed from a raccoon attack) and I thought they were all doing better. Outside of their little feet being turned in slightly from when they were young. But today I noticed that one of my girls (named piccolo) has massive bald spots. They are between the base of her wing and her breast area. Like there are no feathers. the skin is still intact and shows no signs of harm. It just looks naked. The only other thing I noticed was she is much skinnier than the other girls. From what I can tell she is still eating, bathing, and playing with the others like normal. I’m just concerned this may be something fatal. I’m going to try to get a picture of it tomorrow. But if anyone can help me I would very much appreciate.

Pictures are a good idea. Have you noticed her pulling out her feathers? Have you ever wormed your ducks since you got them from less they adequate conditions?
What feed are you using?

Sorry for such a long time since responding. I will get pictures and post them to show. Life got super hectic since this post and she hasn’t gotten any better. I have wormed all my birds and have been giving them correct diet and the even have new fresh yard they get to play in now.

here are the pictures. I also noticed she has extremely dry skin where the feathers are missing. Could this be causing it??

I see you have chickens have you noticed any of the chickens pecking at her? have you checked for parasites? Mites ,lice?
No none of the chickens have been pecking her from what I could tell. If they are they are only doing it at night when the coop is shut. But I’ve also seen the chickens laying with the ducks sometimes so I’m unsure if that’s normal behavior. We have been checking for mites and lice. We have also been spraying our birds down with the mite spray in case because we live in an area where wildlife commonly walk through the yard. I did notice her starting this around the time when our neighbor (same guy) got new chickens and they started coming over into our yard (not in the run but close enough to spook our girls a few times). We have been doing our best to keep them away from our birds in case they have anything but is it possible it could be something that came from the other birds?
