Hello all! I'm trying to determine which colored egg-layers offer the largest eggs, (blue/green/olive). Any input is greatly appreciated.

I also want to add some chickens that lay blue/green/olive colored eggs. I am waiting, however, for my two older chickens to enter the Pearly Gates before making any changes. When the time comes to add to my flock, I want to be sure to get the right breed(s) to get those colors. Your post is helpful to me. Thank you.You will only get olive eggs from a mixed breed (blue egg gene and dark brown egg gene) and sometimes the olive color is hit or miss. A lot of folks on here have Olive Eggers that lay brown eggs.
For guaranteed blue eggs, you'll need Ameraucanas, Araucana, Crested Cream Legbar, or Whiting True Blue. WTB were created to lay blue but each one may look slightly different. They don't come in standard colors. Easter Eggers are great but they're mixes so not guaranteed to lay blue or green and they also come in a variety of looks and colors.
The size of the egg will depend on each bird or line of the breed.
That being said, I have 3 Easter Eggers (Ameraucana mixes) and they all lay blue/green medium to large eggs. I do recommend them!
Note: if you want a pure bred and you see Ameraucanas for sale, make sure the spelling is correct. Many places are selling Easter Eggers but sneakily calling them "Americanas."
I have 1 starlight green Egger and she lays much more consistently than the other pullets. My two prairie bluebells lay pretty well but nothing crazy.I have had pretty good luck with Hoovers green starlight and prairie blue layers. The crossbreed lays a lot of eggs. However, they are not huge eggs, just nice size eggs.
The pure bred birds, often times do lay beautiful colors, but a lower production of eggs.
Yes, the Americanas are Hoover's hybrid. You will only get olive eggs from a mixed breed (blue egg gene and dark brown egg gene) and sometimes the olive color is hit or miss. A lot of folks on here have Olive Eggers that lay brown eggs.
