For those of you who remember the late Alex Duffy's large brown cochins they were, I have been told, a thing of pure beauty to see.
I have never seen one exhibited nor do I know of anyone who has these large brown cochins.
It was for this reason and reading about them in the APA standard that I decided in 2003 to begin working towards remaking this variety of cochin large fowl. While they are not completely ready yet I did want people to know that they are progressing nicely and this year the dark brown base color with the black stipling overlay has been accomplished! The birds are young still but the color is looking better than I had hoped this early on in the project. When the birds are older I will post pictures of them on our website for all to see.
When the project is complete I will post the breeding records which produced this variety on the Cochins International Forum for all to see and use to develop their own brown cochins.
My goal is to one day have them as good and as popular as the large blacks, whites and buffs.
Until then, I'll keep working.

Bo

Oh sure, tell us all about them but don't post pictures.

Hi Bo,

I saw your post on Cochin International as well. I think this is a wonderful project. It's people like you that put the hard work in keep things interesting:) Congratulations on your acheivements in this color, I can't wait to see the pictures. Mr. Duffy sounded like a wonderful man I sure wish I could have met him, I bet he had a mountain of information on cochins.

I raise bantam cochins in white, black, blue and splash. I have always wanted to work on the red bantam cochins, maybe someday when I have more room and time. In the mean time keep up the good work, and we all we be anxiously waiting for those pics!

I would love to see some pictures. I see all the orpington ones in the UK and they are very nice looking.

Hi Bo Garrett
I would love to see pictures of them when you get them were you want them. The Brown Cochin are one of the few breeds of poultry that you dont see today and it would be great to see this color variety in the poultry shows.
