Large coops

I already had 20 grown chickens . I decided to enlarge my flock by adding another 30 chicks. I need to build another coop and was wondering just how large a coop do I need to build now to house such a large flock. I still have the chicks separated from the main flock , but it want be long before they are ready to join the others. The coop I have now is 8 x 8 . I was planning on building another 3 times that size.Possibly building it 24 x 16 or 24 x 24. I already have a run for them and also free range my birds. They love it.

24x16 would be large enough. But you know those chicks are going to grow a lot faster than you can build a new coop.

Welcome to BYC. With chicken coops bigger is better.

Your going to have that or quite bit to buy from home depot or your local builder
your addiction go 24 x 24 JMHO

Welcome Many recommend at least 4sq ft per chicken. Depending on climate and other factors you may want to go a little bigger

I see you’re not exactly new, but not a poster.
You need a 200 ft.² coop, but I think a lot of us just have several coops. I had seven I think. It was dizzying trying to remember which coop needed food still, but it worked out for me.
