Hey everyone,
I am looking for a few good broody hens. I have 56 birds right now, and 25 are over a year old. Many of these are from breeds people say are broody.
I don't have a broody. Not one. I guess they just don't do that at our place. Soooo...
guess I'll have to buy more chickens!
I know silkies make good mothers, and I have a source for some, but I worry about them in an unheated coop in the winter and in the mud in the spring. Also, they can't sit on many eggs. OEG might be better, but they still can't sit on very many eggs. I have heard Cochin are pretty broody, but are the large fowl as broody as the bantam?
Any advice?
Thanks!
Erika
