Large infection/wound (graphic pics)

The wound looks very serious to me. Do not use BluKote since it is for minor scrapes, not deep infected wound. Vetericyn is good, but I would get some chlorhexidene or Hibiclens at your pharmacy. Dilute it with water to 2% and rinse with water. That is a hospital approved disinfectant where infection is concerned. Once it looks and smells better, you can use the Vetericyn again twice a day. Vetericyn Hydrogel is a very good product if you have that. Is she able to stand and walk around? How is she eating and drinking?

Tylan 50 is an antibiotic.
Verm-x is herbs.
yeah its an antibiotic but focuses more on treatment of respiratory and gut infections and or diseases, it wont help much for a wound infection, an antibiotic like penicillin would be much more powerful at treating it, at least I think so. Verm-x is herbs but it can boost overall health which may help the hen at least for now :)

I would flush it out REALLY well with Saline, (diluted iodine/betadine or Chlorhexidine would be best) or even just plain tepid soapy water. Don't be afraid to gently scrub to loosen some of the debris and eschar. Pat dry gently and apply a plain triple antibiotic ointment. Vetericyn works great between ointment applications.

Keep her in where it's warm. A dog crate in a spare bedroom works well for a "hospital bay".

She will need antibiotics. @casportpony is the meds expert. You think Baytril or Metronidazole? Something different? Will the Tylan work?

Keep a thick layer of ointment on her. The key to healing is to KEEP IT MOIST. Do not let it dry out.
I cleaned her off in my slop sink with warm soapy water and saline. I sprayed on the Vetericyn and will go put the triple antibiotic ointment on her now. I'm assuming I'll need a vet to prescribe the antibiotics?

I'll look for those disinfectants tomorrow. Thank you. She can walk but was mostly standing by herself away from the others. She was eating and drinking throughout the day but seemed very sluggish.

No, you can buy them OTC.

@Eggcessive, what antibiotic do you think would be best here?

She definitely has quite the pain tolerance, to still be walking and eating and drinking but that’s probably a good thing. Some antibiotics you can get from a place like tractor supply but it really depends, sometimes you do sometimes you don’t

Oh, knowing which AB to use would help.

Yes, I would use amoxicillin as well. It can sometimes be found in some feed stores as Fish Mox 250 mg capsule. But you cannget it online or from a vet.
Hey, update she’s been eating and drinking normally and the smell has gotten better but not gone completely. She is still separated and I’ve been applying the ointments multiple times a day. The amoxicillin just came in today, any idea of the dosage for her?
