Large irregular air sac?????? Help!!!!!!! Would like peoples thoughts on this.

By stuff, do you mean intestines? If so, then I would euthanize him, the odds on him making it are about none. If you just mean that the yolk sack ruptured and he is leaking yolk and the umbilical cords and veins are dangling, as long as he is still alert I would try to keep him calm and give him more time... check the Hatching 101 link again, near the bottom there are pictures of chicks with these problems ... maybe you can figure out exactly what is going on with him?
I am not sure what the stuff was but, I feel pretty sure it is more then the yolk sac.

Just in case..

Could you take a pic? If I can see what you are talking about I may be able to advise you better.
Sorry I didn't take a pic. It was obvious it was pretty bad and there was nothing more that I could do for him.

So I just felt the less I messed with him the better.

Thanks everyone I really appreciate all the support and ya'll being here for me as I tried to bring those little ones into the world. It helped keep me sane to be able to talk to people as I did it. I am broken hearted about number 3

but, I am still happy I tried to save them because, I did end up with two beautiful chicks that I wouldn't have if I didn't intervene.

Thanks again everyone,
Michelle

Sorry about #3, you very obviously did everything you could for him. Good luck with the other two, may they be beautiful roosters :)

Bringing this older thread back to life as I have 6 shipped Lavender Ameraucana eggs in my Brinsea Mini Advance. I set 7, but one was infertile with no development on first candling. Out of the 6 eggs left, 4 of them have irregular shaped large air cells. One looks almost half of the egg., really large. the other 3 aren't far behind that one. A poster mentioned that her experience with this is of course usually with shipped eggs and even more so with pourous shelled eggs. These eggs were very disappointing to me in quality of shell, color, and also upon candling after I received them in the mail, 5 of them were quite pourous. I questioned whether I should even set them, but you all know, I did the whole... "I really want lavender Ameraucanas, I paid a lot for these eggs, and I also want to learn about setting eggs with detached and wonky air cells."

My question being is...Do you think I should add more water to the Brinsea MA? It is recommended to only fill one side of the two chamber reservoir. Perhaps I should add some in the other side, which you aren't supposed to do until lockdown. All 6 eggs have moving embryos and with two of them tonight, I actually saw beaks and feet! I also hope they develop normally, it seems on the large air cell eggs they don't have much room to grow in. I am encouraged by reading some chicks managed to make it despite their egg beginnings of shipping cross state lines, and making it to hatch.

I wonder if the Original Poster's chicks indeed turned out to be a rooster like she wanted.

Thanks for any advice, thoughts or input.

How far along are the eggs now? Are the two with "good" air cells about the size they should be or are they also large? If the eggs have air cells of varying sizes and you only have one incubator you are kind of stuck trying to cause the least damage. Info all seems to say that air cells that are a little bit larger are better than ones that are too small, so if they all look viable I would probably go with what ever the majority of the better looking air cells are telling you (those have the best chance of hatching) to do so far as humidity goes... unfortunately that one where it is half the size of the egg already is probably a lost cause. Some people have covered the skinny ends of porous egg in wax to seal some of the pores and slow down water loss and have had chicks hatch, that might be something to consider trying.

They are on Day 15. Wonderful information. Yes,, you are right, I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. I now have learned the valuable lesson of not setting porous eggs. This egg was also the egg with the most scrambled wonky air cells too. Makes me feel bad for the little wiggling embryo inside there, knowing that the odds are strictly against it. I don't even know how the heck it will even have any room. I should have taken a picture of it, it's really unbelievable how large it is. Perhaps I should try the candle wax. I imagine brushing it on would do the job. Oh boy....

Thank you so for the information and support

Update to my eggs progress!

Day 21 today, and out of the six eggs, I have 4 hatched out so far! Of the four.... two of them are from the ones with the ridiculously large air cells... Go figure! The two chicks from those eggs are smaller than the other two, but not too bad. All seem to be healthy, and taking those wobbly crazy steps, before collapsing on top of each other and falling asleep. Sooo pretty..

I will keep you posted on the remaining two.. which have no pips at this point. Fingers crossed!
