Ten days ago I posted a picture of a lash egg. I did not know what this was until someone told me on this forum so I looked it up. Because if the lock down restrictions here in France I did not go rushing off to the vet but read up everything I could on line and treated Poppy myself. She would have been two years old in May. Tonight I went to lock the girls up and found her chocking in the garden. i picked her up to feel her crop but she just kept vomiting up liquid, she died less than five minutes later in my arms. I was shocked by how quickly she deteriorated as she was eating, drinking and scratching around just 30 mins earlier. I had read that there was no cure but really thought she was getting better and did not want to believe the terminal prognosis of the results of lash egg. So far over the last three years I have lost a chicken to a different illness each time and just cannot believe my bad luck so have come to a very sad decision to not have any more. I have three girls left now, Daisy will be two years old in May also and I know will miss Poppy. I have two others who will be one year old in May, they for now seem good and healthy and have continually laid all winter. Whatever it is I am doing wrong I wish I knew, they all have a great life, free ranging from morning till night, good feed from a reputable store, treats, coop cleaned every day, fresh water but I really dont think I will have any more, it is too heart breaking when they die.
