I found this in my coop this morning. My Hens (some, not all) are just now beginning to lay eggs. I raised them all from chicks and they are not even a year old. I have heard of lash eggs, but isn’t that typically with older hens?
Even if things are more typical of something else doesn't mean it can't happen.
However, hiccups do happen in the reproductive system. Especially for ladies who are just coming on line. Can you open that up and see what the inside looks like? Is it a standard yolk? Or does it look like cooked egg? Is it in a lay box or just a random place?
It’s In my nesting box. My girls are still fairly young. I didn’t open it up to see but I saved it so I can look when I get in from work today and let you know!
Thank you for your response!
Don't think it is a lash egg...waiting for further dissections and clearer pics.
Lash eggs can happen to any bird, but yes usually older birds.
How old are your birds (in months) and how long have they been laying?
