lash egg?

Any advice is welcome. Our RIR, Ginger laid a tiny lash egg around a month ago. She had been laying eggs like this for a couple weeks prior to the lash egg. After the lash egg she gets in the nesting box and lays one of these about every day.

what’s the next step? What should I be doing. I don’t have any vets nearby that take poultry. She’s eating normal, normal weight and Is acting her normal self.

I'm sorry Ginger is laying these eggs.

I'm also sorry that her long term prognosis is not good.

Lash eggs are caused by infection/inflammation in the egg duct. They are literally encased puss.

There is little to do other than vet treatment with heavy antibiotics or a hysterectomy, both of which often don't work.

Keep her happy. If you have any kind of natural antibotic like fresh garlic mash and thyme oil, that may help stem the infection.

However, once this happens, it eventually progresses until the hen is emaciated and dies. I'm not aware personally of anyone treating this successfully.
