Found this in my coop this morning all my girls are acting normal. Other then the coughing and sneezing due to a resp infection. Had to put my whole flock on amoxicillin so I wouldn’t lose them due to a resp infection. When I went to check on them this morning, I found this egg. After cutting it up found the yolk was pretty much hard boiled surrounded but tissue with a long string hanging from it. Any other suggestions besides taking them to a vet. Can find one who treats chickens near me I have all everywhere closest one is like 2 hrs away.

Did you have to photograph that on a plate with eating utensils? :sick:tongue😆
No, seriously... Lash eggs are due to an infection in the oviduct, called salpingitis. Her immune system creates that mess to try to wall off the infection from the rest of the body. It needs to be treated with antibiotics - maybe the amoxicillin will do the trick, but only a vet can tell you what kind of antibiotic will be most effective for your hen's particular infection.

I've only seen them once in my flock, but it was when I was butchering some of the older non-laying hens.

Lol 😂 sorry forgot I had them on the plate

No not sure who laid it they are all acting normal for having a cold. Yes they are on day two of amoxicillin just started treating them
Amoxacillin can be used for salpingitis, which one of your hens has, so it's good that they're getting it.
Check all their abdomens and see if one is more bloated than the others.

What respiratory infection are you treating? Did a vet prescribe the amoxicillin? Just trying to understand exactly the situation. Some respiratory virus's can also impact egg laying. If it's salpingitis then often a stronger antibiotic is needed, like enrofloxacin, but if vet care is available then they can do testing to find which antibiotic might be most effective. With salpingitis, it's a very stubborn infection and it many times does not respond to treatment. You have to start treatment early on for the best chance of effectiveness. Some antibiotics may buy them some time, but often they will progressively get worse, sometimes it's slow, sometimes its fast, I've had a few survive about 18 months with it (both with and without treatment), others succumbed much faster.
