Found this in the coop tonight. Is this a lash egg? I think it must be. I wish I knew who laid it but I don’t. Firm, waxy outside.

Thanks. I’ll look tomorrow, they’re all asleep now…didn’t see anyone looking weird today. SadOh yes, that is a lash egg from a hen with salpingitis. Look for anyone acting ill, perhaps with a lowered tail, and walking like a penguin or wide legged, or more upright. Salpingitis may eventually lead to egg yolk peritonitis and death. It sometimes may be found when butchering a chicken. Antibiotics have little effect once lash eggs are being produced. Here is some reading:
