Last Egg Is Empty!

I checked #4 this morning, no sounds of tapping, but my hen kept sitting on it. Just a few minutes ago, we did a check out there in her nursery/pen. That last egg is open, Dh saw what appears to be yolk inside the shell. Guess that last egg was not fertilized, or just failed somehow. My hen keeps checking the shell, then checking her chicks~ as if she's doing a head count!

Congratulations on your hatch! I have a broody that has been sitting relentlessly on six eggs since April 5th. She hasn't left her nest since Friday afternoon...she doesn't seem to want to budge so I'm hoping that is a sign she knows they are ready to hatch. I hope we are as lucky as you are...I'd be glad to get one chick out of this first run. It must have been a thrill to see that first little one.
