Hello! Just looking for some opinions.

We had 4 EE eggs at day 21 yesterday. All were viable at lock down, and three of them have been out since early morning on day 21. The fourth has had nothing going on. I broke down and candled this morning , and while there is most definitely a chick in there, there is no internal pip, and absolutely no movement when tapped. The particular egg itself has always concerned me, as it was small and squat compared to the others, but as development had been normal and I've hatched eggs from this hen before, I was hopeful.
I know that waiting is the only way to be sure, but the fact that it isn't moving at all has me worried.
Would the float test be moot at this point? Anyone had a similar experience with a chick that ended up hatching?
Thanks.

I would wait two more days, then if nothing just call it quits. You can do an eggtopsy and see what went wrong, if anything.

Update: The chick didn't end up hatching. When I opened the egg, I found a fully formed, perfect chick. The yolk was not fully absorbed. I'm very curious as to what happened, and when exactly it passed, since they were all viable and moving on lockdown.

I suppose I'll never know. :/

Sometimes they simply don't hatch for reasons we can't control
