Hi everyone, I'm based in the UK and my most recent batch (2 remaining) are at day 18. Very excited if slightly nervous as this is the 4th or 5th time I've tried to hatch eggs from my flock. Sadly I chose one of those crappy dome incubators but on the good side this is the farthest I've got. My question is that I'm keeping the humidity as hight as possible 65 to 75% but I'm concerned that when I'm away it may go lower. Any advice please would be appreciated

I moved this out of the BST section to this section on Incubating and Hatching eggs. Hopefully someone can help you here. :)

Good luck with your hatch!

Am I understanding correctly, you’ve kept your humidity that high throughout your incubation? Days 1-18 should be 35-45% then 65-75% for lockdown. How long will you be away?

During the last 3 days of incubation the humidity should be around 60 to 65% RH.
Going higher can cause problems, like 'stuck' chicks.
I wouldn't reccomend leaving eggs that close to hatching unattended, some could hatch early, some late or they can hatch on-time. Either way, they need to be transferred to a brooder after they dry, fluff up. Chicken chicks can go a maximum of 3 days before they need food due to they are still absorbing the yolk. Usually 12 to 18 hours after all of them have hatched they can be moved to the brooder. At that time you will want to provide feed and water.

I'm only leaving them when I sleep and go to work, the humidity is fine and the right level day 21 tomorrow eek!!
