When my roommate went to pick it up at the pet store the cashier asked what kind of parrot she said and she said, "Oh, this is for a chicken," and the cashier didn't know what to say.

Yeah looks like bloom. It's fine. Sometimes they just be like that.

The thing is, I have a few new (or soon to be) layers (28 wks) but this egg is so big for a first egg and no one else lays eggs this dark (under bloom)and this big in my entire flock.

Rejoice! You got a rare purple egg! If/when you wash it, it won't be purple any more. It's the unicorn of chicken eggs!
