Late broody hatch question

I have two broody hens sitting on eggs, about 5 each. Hatch day was yesterday the seventeenth, and no sign of hatching.

So heres my question, does it take longer to incubate under a broody hen, could mine just be late, or gone, unfertil??

incubators and broody hens both take 21 days, some chicks can take around 22-23 days to hatch, though. Have you candled recently or heard any internal pips?

Listen every day. However, since it's the lockdown period I havent touched them the last few days. There were a few promising ones a few days ago thoug, but couldnt tell for the easter egger shells due to their thickness. I have heard nothing, nor saw no obvious signs of them trying to hatch. No other hens are able to get in with them either, so I know that none of the eggs are younger then the others.

My last hatch in the bator (chicks wise) was horrible so could it be something up with the hens themselves??

When the OP said the 17th, I think they meant May 17th. Not 17 days.

fertility is mainly based on the rooster, some roos are just infertile. There are a ton of aspects that affect fertility, age, disease, poor feed intake. I'd give the eggs 1-2 days

Planned to, we were just windering why they havent by now. Our only rooster, we know is fertil since hes had three chicks already (two died soon after hatching in the bator) and all my chickens are only about a yr old. This is my two hens first time broody, and theyve been really diligent sitters. Itd be dissappointing if they didnt hatch anything.

Not the best hatch so far, the first one that pipped died shortly after pipping, the only live one we currently have hatched sometime during the night (cute!!!) Might post eggtopsy pics. But heres my live baby pics.

To my inexperienced eye, it looks like it tried hatching before it finished absorbing the yolk. I have a chick right now that is 2 weeks old, was the last to hatch in the incubator, and he/she had a large bloody umbilical sort of like in your pictures. I thought for sure it'd bleed out but the chick persisted. It's healed now, but the same chick has a bare back for no apparent reason. I'm hoping the feathers will grow in over time.

Most likely all of these issues are caused by genetics. Sorry you lost this one.
