Hello, I have mixed duck breed egg in the incubator we are on day 28. I am worried as I haven’t seen any beak in the air sac when I shine the light through the incubator. How long should I wait? And when should I intervene?

What breed are the parents? Has your temp been checked with a calibrated thermometer? It might be too low.

They are black east indie and khaki Campbell. What does that mean? We hatched a goose with this incubator and it worked well. So I don’t think that temp is off in incubator Thank you for helping me!!

Ok. A calibrated thermometer is any thermometer that has been calibrated and is known to be perfectly accurate. Usually to calibrate them they're placed in in an ice bath, left for 15-20 minutes, and then checked to see if it is at 32° Fahrenheit or not. If it's not it's wrong and should not be used. Just because you hatched a goose egg does not mean it's accurate. The goose just might have been tough and was able to make it. Geese usually are pretty resilient. What type of incubator is it? I always have at least 3 calibrated thermometers in my incubators at all times. The digital readout is very rarely correct.

Ok. I have one too and mine was wayyyy off. The readout was off by 4 degrees! Yours is probably off too.

I just calibrated it on the machine it said -1.4 so is that not too bad? Thanks again for the help!

The incubator manual said that I had to press some buttons to calibrate it and when I did it said -1.4 so I’m guessing that means degrees celcius! So I think We’re doing ok with temps just now

Hm, I've never heard of that. I'm not sure I'd trust it. Can you get a digital or oral thermometer and calibrate it?
