late hatches from the incubator

Day 23 on my hatch and nothing. Yesterday they were moving. What should I do?

If none have pipped, you could candle to see if there are any movements. If there are no internal pipping and no movements you can try the water candle test. I hold mine up to my ear and lightly tap at the air cell. a lot of the time you will get movement or a tap back, even a peep if they have internally pipped.

Yes!! Definitely!! They just aren't ready to come yet! My little girl was hatched on the 24/25th day and she's a healthy computer loving 7 week old. Glad they are still alive. You should never go into an unpipped shell to try to get a living chick out. (My opinion.) Yes, there's always a chance an overdue chick will not make it but there's an almost positive chance of killing a not ready chick by opening it up. They have to absorb the yolk, and then there's the veins....so as hard as it is, Let nature start the process.

I really could not tell. I am going to do some YouTube and see some now. So I know what all I can about it.

I agree amylynn it's just so darn hard.

It has a fan and an egg turner.  I believed the temperature to be 99.5 although it read 98 F  This is because I compared it to the brooder thermometer, which I believed to be accurate.

Go get a good accurate thermometer or two and stop 'guessing' the temp it will benefit you 10 fold...

Ignore the price in the link, these are about $2 at Walmart in the fish isle... I have tested several of them and they are very accurate, just give it about 15-20 minutes in the incubator before you take a reading as it has steel beads that need to heat up and tempo stabilize before you get accurate readings...

I agree with Yorkshire Coop I had 26 day hatches. I believe it is due to low temperature. The new thermometer I ordered reads three degree F colder than the one I was using. I am increasing the heat today on the new clutch and dropping humidity to 50% this time. Will keep in touch. I got 5 survivors from my late hatch.
