Late Introduction!

Welcome- I'm new here also. But boy has it been helpful. As far as roosters go- I'm like you. I have two large ones and they are very protective of the hens. Downside is they have hurt me three times. I have scars all over my legs. Last one was when I was bending over to put fresh water out and out of nowhere he got my hand- right on the vein and instant bleeding under skin and swelled up an inch high. If I wasn't a nurse it would have freaked me out !!! Ended up being a puncture wound right through my vein. And now- guess who I am hand feeding trying to get him over a bad reps illness???? Yes- me. After he got me the last time- my husband was so mad he "dominated" him by getting him in corner and holding him upside down by his legs- he hasn't attached since!!!!!! I love my rooster crows and the way they protect

Welcome to BYC!  How do you manage with several roosters?  Do they quarrel with one another?

I have a chicken tractor I keep two in at night and while I'm at work (4 hours, weekdays), and they don't fight each other because they are brothers and somewhere around two years old. :) During my time home, they are in my sights to be sure they don't attack my younger rooster. Chasing, occasional kicks or pecking are expected, but the younger is very submissive to them. Plus, with an acre to run around in, they are not kept in close quarters during the day. :) Still, I am in the process of adding new hens.

Oh my goodness, mine hasn't done that, I'm so sorry! And your husband has more control than mine, I'm afraid if one of my roosters ever really got me or our daughter, I could see him making it dinner. :/ Still, I'd never hate the roo, it was just doing it's duty. :)

However, congratulations on being a nurse! :D I am just a little CNA, haha. :)

Yes, I ride my best horse naturally, others bareback in the heat, and always with just a halter. (Proud, hehe) I used to show, but I'm too busy nowadays.

I can ride jumper, dressage, pleasure, trail, barrels/poles, cutting, reining, and carting in the neighborhood. Have only been on one cattle drive, sadly. I have always been curious about showmanship - feel free to PM me about it.

The most snow we've gotten here in the past five years was a foot deep.

Northern ends of southern states get more.. North Carolina and Indiana get more in my experience. My grandparents were from Michigan, and they missed the snow dearly.
Thanks!

Cool. I ride bareback with a halter usually and sometimes (Not in a big pasture) I ride with out any thing on! I do a little jumping. If you would like I could talk to you about showmanship.
