Flocks will not divide themselves up willingly. The only way you're going to get 6 hens to use one eglu and the other 6 the second one is to physically separate the flock into two sub-flocks.A question. With 2 coops (both eglu’s) do the same hens use the same coop all the time?
Thanks! Do the same 6 have to use the same coop all the time or does it make a difference to them?Flocks will not divide themselves up willingly. The only way you're going to get 6 hens to use one eglu and the other 6 the second one is to physically separate the flock into two sub-flocks.
The flock doesn't care where the coop is or what the coop is they just want to roost together. Therefore the coop needs to be large enough and well ventilated enough to contain the entire flock. Thanks! Do the same 6 have to use the same coop all the time or does it make a difference to them?
What if they can free range together? Will they still fight?I'd add, that once you split them into two coops, you will have two flocks. They will fight more amongst themselves.
You will have so much fun, ma’am! Have you bought the chicks yet? And what kinds are they?At 75 I thought never to have chickens. WRONG. Bought an Eglu coop and run and have decided to raise 12 hens. North Central Arkansas, Ozark area.
Yes, they are coming in 2 weeks. 3 buff Orpingtons, 3 barred Plymouth Rocks, 2 Black Copper Marian’s, 2 Columbia Wyandottes, and 2 Golden Laced Wyandottes. You will have so much fun, ma’am! Have you bought the chicks yet? And what kinds are they?
