Late Winter Quilt Block Swap -----> March 1 due date

If you are going to quilt by machine you will need a walking foot. Normally when you sew the fabric is moved along by the feed dogs which are the little teeth that jump up and down below your needle but because a quilt is made up of several layers you need to move the top fabric along as well which is what a walking foot dose. If you don't use one you get rucks of fabric against previously stitched lines.
BUT I did know a lady that when asked if she quilted by hand or machine replied " oh by hand of course! It's quicker....I don't have to unpick!"
You can also quilt by cheque book and send your quilt to be quilted on a long arm machine.

There are some excellent class's on a web site called craftsy, they cost about $20 but you can watch them as many times as you like and it's like having a lesson in your own home, also tutors will answer any questions you may have.

Katsdar, I don't mind if you use my idea. That's the fun of quilting. I love your quilt. Normally I'm sewing for boys but this year is the year of the female so I'm enjoying the pinks. I am making some burp cloths for one of the teachers that works with my daughter. Her baby is a boy and she is due two weeks before my daughter. The fabric that will cover the middle part of the burp cloth(actually prefolded cloth diapers) has dinasors on them which will go on one side and the other will have an embroidered dinasor on it with the baby's name. We never were that fancy with burp cloths when I was raising my seven but it's all the thing with this generation. Boy! That statement makes me feel old.!

Marty, I hope to mail my blocks this week, hopefully by Thursday. I have to go to the PO and get some more envelopes.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE INCLUDE AN ENVLOPE ADDRESSED BACK TO YOURSELF THAT ALLREADY HAS THE POSTAGE APPLIED TO ME WHEN YOU SEND YOUR BLOCKS!!!

I DO NOT keep large envleopes, extra postage, and etc on hand. It also is very confusing keeping track of who sent postage but no address, who sent addressed envelope but no postage, and etc when I'm sorting blocks. If you want your blocks shipped with everyone else, please send a SASE (self addressed stamped envelope) so all I have to do is slide your blocks into your envelope, and get them back on their way home to you! If you don't, you sadly increase the odds of a mistake in shipping.

Since you have not been able to mail back the other swaps blocks and this one is due the first when do you want us to mail these blocks to you? I don't want you to get them mixed up

You may send your blocks at any time. They are kept in differnent storage containers. When I doubt, I open a corner and peek at the colors. The winter swaps were all clearly blue or christmas in colors. The spring colors (with one exception pictured) are all very yellow-pink etc. Only have a few of those in right now (3 so far) but I'm expecting several from what folks have posted.

Yeah I'm glad to know we have a gentleman among us, I have been very slowly, very very slowly going through my mothers things (she passed away several years ago)any way I gave one of her sewing machines to my son, and my husband looked at me funny and said why, and I told him he may need it for something, well Kenny is in the Navy and he uses it to make extra money when he goes out to sea sewing on new rank/patches and when he is at home he uses it to just make things, so now I will tell my husband see I was right!!!!!

Open toe so u can see better at what you're doing, walking foot keeps feed dogs feeding at same speed at top and quilter bar to keep correct spacing. Say you're doing diagonal lines- quilter bar spaced at 1 1/2" gives u perfect spacing from the 1st line, etc. So all quilted lines are evenly spaced and after quilting both directions you'll get perfect diamonds! Btw- my status is...MAILED

Marty, I have already sent my blocks so I didn't follow your instructions. I did send a self addressed return envelope but I didn't put postage on the envelope, I sent return postage separately in the envelope with the blocks. I'm sorry I couldn't do as requested.
