14 weeks into our chicken adventure and loving them! I just posted in the gender forum because someone told me if their combs are red they are roosters. That seems to be not always the case so, hoping the pictures are decent enough for some veteran input.
This site has helped so much! Thanks to all who post and respond. The learning center was better than any books at the library.

! Pleased you joined us! The red comb thing is likely true in general terms but when hens get ready to lay their combs will start to get bright red also. What age are your birds?

actually if the comb & wattles are larger than other chicks and red early it may be a cockerel. Hens usually redden up when they are nearly point of lay - tho some breeds have large combs on both sexes.

14 almost 15 weeks old now. I posted pictures, hoping to get some feedback. Thanks for the welcome!
