This may be a dumb question but I don’t know if Lavendar is a recessive gene for Orpington chickens. I have a Lavendar Orpington rooster and hen. Will they produce Lavendar offspring?

Lavender is recessive, it needs two copies to show.

Breeding two lavenders give 100% lavenders.

Breeding lavender to black produces lavender splits, or offspring with one copy. If they have one copy, no lavender will show.

Thank you! I’ve avoided putting him with her and the Buffs because he’s so big and pulls their feathers out. These buffs are smaller than other buffs I’ve had. Maybe I can put them together for a couple of weeks and take him out after that
