Lavender Ameracaunas

Hi, are Lavender Ameracauna (blue self) from Cackle Hatchery legitimate Ameracauna chickens? Or did I pay too much for Easter Eggers? I have never ordered chickens in the mail, before and always gotten them from the local feed store.

Picture would be helpful. In my experience true Ameraucanas have the little cheek muffs.

They look legit, price is pretty cheap though for true Ameraucanas! They also have buff Ameraucanas with photo credit from John Blehm. My guess is you will get a decent quality Ameraucana from the looks of them!

Thank you. I am excited about them! I got 6 pullets for $20 each. And 2 cockerals for $13 each. I hope they all survive the shipping.

Yes they are true. They purchased stock from a breeder that has actually posted on this forum I believe. I ran across the post in a search.

They are real Ameraucana but they are not the best quality. They do show the basic traits so it's not a bad choice - you can improve them.

Once birds are being bred by someone else the former breeders name does not apply. You can say they came from that line originally, but the people making the breeding decisions aren't going to have the same mindset or experience.
Honestly, I find it difficult to trust a hatchery operation to do it right without dollar signs taking over.
