Lavender Ameraucana Breeders .... UNITE

How old are the ones with both purple and green sheen.  If they are young birds going thru the molt I would wait.  Some say the purple also comes  from their diet/stress.  I have seen the purple come from using blues over blacks.

Whites, blues and lavender should be silver base IMO.  Blacks should be gold base.  I only raise black, lavender and white birds.
Harry, very interesting insight as always. Is the splash male you are using with your lavenders based on silver??? I am growing out some blacks right now with hopes to use them with my lavenders... Now you 've got me thinking.

John,
I am hoping the splash is silver base. You can tell when you lavenders are gold base they have that dark grey color and usually black flecking in their plumage. I also got a lavender cockerel from him that was bred from my original lavenders ameraucanas because I want the size to be consistent. Don't want bantams to pop up and also loose size in my birds. Hope you have luck with those blacks.

This is Lagertha, shes about 6-7 months i guess?? My nephew named her from that show the Vikings. She rules the roost, shes made herself mother hen watching over the flock all the time, and shes a sweetheart :) I got her about 3 weeks ago at the Poultry Swap in Terrebonne, Oregon.

What do you think? Pullet or Roo? 3 1/2 weeks old...

What does the legs look like? It is a toss up for me. It looks a lot like my pullets.
I've put them to bed for the night, I will check in the morning. :) The second one really acts like a roo. Confrontational, spars with the other roos in the brooder, etc. Very friendly with me though. The first one acts like a girlie girl, lol...
