Lavender Ameraucana Breeders .... UNITE

Pics
Wendy, You do not live too far from Washington, Pa. They have a chicken club there and two shows per year plus 10 months out of the year they have tail gait sales and you don;t need to be a member I beieve to sell there. You can find a lot of information on this thread and the Ameraucana Club Forum on how to breed the recessive Lavender gene. Good luck.

Are you talking about the Uniontown Pultry in Fayette County at the fairgrounds?
I knew of this one not one in Washington. Do you have more information on that one?

Yes, you are correct it is in Uniontown, Pa at the Fayette County Fairgrounds. I keep thinking it is in Washington, Pa for some reason. Ed and Steve Stanish are the contact persons will PM you their phone number since I do not know them personally and it is inappropriate for me to give out someones phone number. They do have their number published in the Poultry Press Paper.

Maybe someone on here can help me. I'm looking for some Lavender Ameraucana Bantams and standard. We have one beautiful roo who needs some lovely purple ladies to join him. We are in north ga. Message me if you know of any. Thanks

If you are a member of the Ameraucana Breeders club you could put a request on there but it is coming to breeding season and most people sold off all their extras during the fall. Good luck, if I hear of any I will send them your way.

There may be some shows coming up in Ga just check in the Poultry Press or on the web.

Go to the showing section here on BYC there is a show in Dalton, Ga in Feb and if they have a sales area you could find one or maybe a breeder will have something for sale there.

HI all
So glad i found you.
Well mine are too young to breed yet but i would like t o watch this thread and collect info for when they are old enough
I hatched out 3 from shippedeggs about 7 weeks ago 2 cockrels and one pullet so guess i will just have a pair in the end, unless ibuy nore lave eggs which imight
So their lavender gene is recessive just like the lavender Orps are?
I also have them too.. and find it hard find specific info on either.... breeder info and genetic wise
Also what is the standard for them ?Should i go by the standard for the regular americaunas?
I had some EE i wasnt fond of .VERY flighty and scarey plus I didnt like the hawk beak look
These dont seem to have that yet anyway.
I was so shocked to find these from day one of hatch are very calm and friendly

I have one boy whos feathers are very smooth lay flat and nicely but the other 2 look almost frizzled chopped up or unkempt .Is that a trait of this color and or breed ?

Welcome, Roxannemc!
Yes- same standard. Yes- lavender has feather quality issues, and not just in Ameraucanas. That's why breeding back to blacks is emphasized so much.

Its been an awful winter here. Nearly 2 months of straight rain. My chickens are laying pretty well, but my geese are several weeks behind where they were last year. Finally got a few pics, and more of the lav cuckoos I have to put on the projects thread. Still have everybody free ranging together for another few months. I like having all the colors out together.

Black hen:

Lav pullet, lav cuckoo pullet, lav hen, black cockerel (plus Marans and a Swede):

This is what I was told to do by an expert breeder who should know, so I'm following her advice. I hope to eventually have some nice lavenders.
