Lavender and buff silkies

Question about chick color. I have a pen with lavender and Buff siklies. I know lavenders will have yellowish chicks and the calculator says lavender and Buff will be black (which I got 1 of both) but can anyone explain the other chicks that are gray and gray with a little buff leakage?

Parent birds were all yellow with a little gray as chicks. Yes all lavenders.

They're so FLUFFY! They definitely look to be lavender.

it all depends on the colour of your rooster and his genes. Clearly he has a dominant black colour allele. And your hen also has a dominant grey/lavender colour allele. Therefore the only colours you would be likely to get from that specific hen and rooster is lavender/grey and black. But each chick might have a tad of white or maybe some black when they get their full feathers.

Although black is the main colour, if they have a copy of buff it will often leak through so the birds won't look pure black.
