Lavender & Black Orpington

I'm new to chickens. Right now I have a small flock of 3 lavender and 2 black Orpington hens. I am getting another lavender hen and lavender rooster. I was curious if I were to have chicks from both the black and lavender hens would I get both colored chicks or just lavender. Thanks!

Glad you could join the flock! I afraid color genetics are not my forte in life but I'm sure if you pop by the link Sumi has left for you the keepers there will be able to help you. How are you finding your orpingtons? I have one Orpington chick from my last hatch and it seems a friendly little thing. I hoping its a pullet!! Fingers crossed the friendliness continues.

Oh, those Lavender Orps are SO pretty! I don't have any although I do keep Black Australorps. Love all the Orp breeds.

You might want to pose that question also, at "what breed or gender is this." There are a few very experienced folks there that have good knowledge of color genetics.
