Lavender hen x Blue rooster??? Is that ok?

That bird is really pretty! I don't think the hens are blues; they def. have the lavender. They are much much lighter than the blue male. I posted pics a while back on the lav orp thread. At that time, I knew one had a slightly darker head but the one with the darker patterns on her back just recently started showing. (Or I just noticed.) I guess maybe it is just b/c they are early generation birds. Or maybe she got something on her back

She runs every time I get near her so I could be wrong about it being her feather color ... what a dummy I would feel like then. But one definitely has a dark head.

cuckooformarans,
Sorry, don't remember your picture because I am not on here that much. There are several different shades of lavender and yours may be the darkest. I had chicks hatch pure white to turn into a sterling shade of lavender as they grow older and they had dark legs so not a mottled gene influence. Plus some show some cuckoo coloring coming thru on some males.

best advice from me is to only breed lavender to good blacks which theres plenty around, esp in the orp world, thats if your shooting for good lookin lavenders as the end results..
breeding this way is were your most predictable results will come from.. not much guessing going this route and you don't have to be a rocket scientist to get what your after..lol

I agree ... that's why I am eagerly waiting for your black orps to start laying again so I can get my hands on some of those good, quality blacks
