Male or female? 7 weeks old. Feathers developed quickly. No crowing and still quiet. I only have two chickens (the other is a pure lav orp the same age) and I'v noticed a little bit of chasing but nothing bad. They still lay down and cuddle all the time. But this one is a little more feisty- doesn't like being held but is still very friendly.

So was it a rooster? My lavender orpington did not start crowing until quite late. I too have crossed my lavender orpington with australorps. What is the temperament of your birds? My profile picture has my chicks. They are entering the ugly stage now. I am thinking about breeding back these chicks with the Lavender orpington roo and then look at introducing blue birchen maran to the flock. What do you think? I want good egg production and docile birds. Hoping with the maran to get a little darker egg.

I am interested in a picture!
I have chicks, lavender orpington roo and a black Australorp pullet, so I'm very curious what the future turn out would be.
