It backs up the color transfer a bit, but size is more important.

100% agree. For us, temperment wins out, but mostly because small kids are here, I can NOT have a mean bird. No way, no how. The Orp boys were so bad even DD14 and I couldn't handle them. Next is size - I want an Orp to look like an Orp. That hen is BEAUTIFUL, I'm not seeing any flaws from that picture. After you get that worked out, then you get into the pretty factor - what color can you make a bird.

This guy has THE BEST personality. He let me bathe him, rinse him ,blow dryer him and never complained. He is so easy to work with. It will be a total joy to have some of his offspring.

Temperament is so very important. I'm doing in 3 guys this week who are evil evil birds.

But that big easy going personality is part of what makes an orp an orp.

Yup, that's why we got into Orps and JGs. The big, mush ball, easy going personality. Heck, the splash JG roo who is in with the Orp girls so they have a roo sees the girls pushing the doll strollers around outside, he runs over and hops in for a ride.

The birds here get ONE chance to act up and if they don't shape up immediately, they go to Freezer Camp. Maybe with time they'd remember their good manners, but the reality is I've got a 3 y/o who can still wear the 18 month old clothes, she's tiny. They don't get the chance at all, they are nice or they are gone.

Maybe I'll start looking for a nice Orp roo for the girls. But the JG boy is just so nice, but not very JG typey yet, maybe he'll grow into it. But he can have the Orp girls and we just get Orp/JG cross egg layers who are cute and nice. I'm a slacker.

It's a bit hard to tell. Can you retake the pics on a colored back ground? That back ground washes out the color. They could be white, blue, splash, lav or a mix of some kind.

Okay, I'll see if I can get some more pics tomorrow

I don't recall seeing lavender with that much yellow. Here's a pic of how ours typically look.
