but they are beautiful and had 100% fertility with the eggs i got!! I may or may not have some project eggs available next year, i have yet to decide if i will part with any, and also if i will breed the sibling lavs together or not, as i have been unsuccessful at hatching any blacks from the blue orp eggs i have incubated (all blue and splash so far, 6 eggs to go).

Beth, personally I won't sell them to just anybody. Make sure they are actually going to take the measures to insure they are improved upon. They are project birds, which means that they need to improved conformation wise. Get their zipcode, estimate the weight of 6 eggs (about 3 pounds?) and do a shipping quote through the USPS for Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation. I would say a serious buyer would pay what you ask for them while a less serious buyer would not. Most are sold for $100+ a dozen depending on their quality.

Thank you very much for your advice and I am going to definately take that into consideration before doing this!

For Pure Lav Orp eggs? How much non locally? $2 a dz plus shipping? I'll take a bunch, plus some of those chicks you give away, pure Lavs also? Let me know when you have some spares I'll give you my address.

I do it on impulse, as when I am downsizing (frequently). I keep hatching, then I decide to which ones to downsize. I have given away at least 100 Lavenders lately. NO shipping, pickup only. Come on over!

New babies! These are from my lav boy on lav and black hens. Obviously my lavs are carrying the mottled gene. I have 1 lav, 7 black splits and a mottled lav so far. There are 4 more eggs in this hatch one has pipped but he clearly has not absorbed the yolk. They are all early by two days - this humidity is wreaking havoc on my hatches!!!!

but pics anyways........

Great pics Sarah and congrats on your hatch! Our new generation of lavenders are growing so fast. I have to get some new pics of them to share. I call them my little chunkers. lol
