How cute! DH calls these "Cha-Chingers" since they are surely the most I've spent for chicks to date!

Half of the surviving Cha-Chingers have made their way to Missouri.
6 1/2 weeks old .... 2 lavender 3 black......
Can you sex them yet?

I see a Lav boy and the others are girls. As far as I can tell, anyway.

I have had very good success going by the tail and feathering. Boys take forever to get tails and little pullets feather out quicker all over.

I've had a few who are ambiguous, but they're pretty consistent.

ETA I think one of the blacks may be a boy- the one with less tail.

ETA What the heck was I drinking that day? I think the first Lav is a maybe, and the first black is a maybe...the rest look roo-ish as all get-out if they're that young. I'm a ditz sometimes.

They all look like roosters based on the wattles and red faces at that age, but sometimes they keep you guessing.

I am just terrible at sexing. I usually have to wait til they crow or lay an egg.

I just didn't remember seeing such red in the faces before like these. I guess I am not very observant.

I really really hope they are not ALL roosters. Well, if they are I guess I had better start looking for some more nice fluffy blacks to mate them to.

I need a name for my little acreage ..... It probably should include the word, "ROOSTER," as it seems I attract them.

My last batch of Lavenders hatched 11 roos. Of 16 Chanteclers I ended up with 12 roos. I'm due some serious estrogen vibes around here!

I hope you have all pullets- I assumed the red-facedness was due to the blasted heat we're having around here...dangit!
