All three of them came from scbatz here on BYC. I hatched the black/lav from eggs and then got the other two as mates for Peep. I also have two 5mo. old lavs from her as well. Wasn't quite sure about the mottled at first, but since have changed my mind. I'm very happy with all of them. They're Great birds!

I would love to get some different colors of orps, but I'm afraid they wouldn't last long where I live. I'm having trouble keeping the poultry I have right now alive!

Are you having a predator problem?

Yes, I had to quit Free Ranging because I was loosing 2 - 3 birds a DAY!

My dad said he saw a coyote carry'ing a rabbit in it's mouth not too far away from the house, that's what I figure is getting them.

should the one on the bottem right of the second pic have a white earlobe?

X2. Are white earlobes in LO a trait to stay away from? Also, which shade of lavender are we working towards and is the most desirable?

Orps should have red earlobes, so that is correct.. white lobes should be culled. I am working towards a nice even shade of lavender in the light to medium tone. I think the shade of lavender a person wants will be an individual choice. The dark ones are very pretty too. The more you breed and select for a particular shade, you will find they breed much more consistently to that shade.

Sorry to hear that. Do they seem to be safe in their coop and run? What breeds do u have in your flock?
