Here are my lavender Orpington roos but I'm having a hard time choosing one as I can only have one Roo

the light roo is very tall and very clumsy...the other darker one is a little shorter and seems to me just better looking

wanted to ask if anyone knows the orpington standards and who looks like the better rooster ??? Any input would be helpful!!!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. I would go with the rooster that has the calm, more gentle temperament as you don't want to breed aggression into your flock. If both of them are gentle, then I agree with you and would go with the top rooster as he is the better looking one. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

Thanks! I've been going over this decision for over a month now:-/ Makes it a lot easier with someone else's input

Yes I do have lavender hens ! I was hoping to get a few chicks out of them next year thats kinda why I wanted to know what roo looked the best ..Both of them are super sweet

Lavender O's are not yet a recognized breed. So many folks are enjoying the breed. Some (a lot) are breeding towards a standard and recognition. If you are just breeding for personal use, absolutely go with the best temperament roo. If you are interested in breeding Lavs toward standard, you may want to research your foundation stock to be sure the hens and roo are pure lav with no blue gene. That gene doesn't breed true to color. You might want to post your pictures on https://www.backyardchickens.com/newsearch?search=lavender+orpington as well.
Here's another link you might enjoy. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...er-orpington-proposed-standard-comment-thread
Best of luck on your exciting adventure! I look forward to updates!

I'll try to get a few chicks from them next year they will mostly be to add to family and friends flocks! everyone that comes over falls in love with them and the color..... soooo I thought that it would be nice to let the hens hatch some to give away

You are quite welcome! I fell in love with them too! I wanted to breed them here but it's just too hot where I live. Hence my detailed reply. Enjoy your LO's!
