We have 8 chicks, 3 of them are almost 5 weeks and the rest are 3 weeks today. Breeds and observations below. We handle them at least 2 times a day but go up to them frequently to check in. Thoughts?
Whit leghorn: brooder greeter, easy to handle, but pecks and me and my kids somewhat aggressively. Suspicions of a roo.
RIR: HBIC to the chicks, but very friendly and easy to handle
Smokey Pearl: skittish/flighty, nice but doesn't seem to enjoy being handled
Buff Orpington: the sweetest cuddly thing ever
Lavender Orpington: my favorite, she basically jumps into my hands and loves the kiddos
Easter egger (the one on the warmer): another friendly gal who loves to greet us
Lavender Orpington or EE: got an extra chick, the darker gray one. She's kind of like a cat but can be very friendly
Noir maran: I think she hates us. Kind of keeps to herself in there and does not like being handled. at. all.
