This will greatly depend on where you're located and the genetics of the rooster. I personally give away most of my roosters for free no matter the bloodline quality but I have seen people ask for $10-15, sometimes $20 as a re-homing fee and then there are SOP breeders with show quality roosters that can charge $50-100. This is just what I have seen locally though and for whatever reason the roosters always sell for more at the local livestock auctions, usually more like $25 but then the auctioneers will keep a percentage.

Why would anyone want your rooster that attacks people? Really, think about who would like that scenario? I gave mine to my friend. She immediately picked him up by his legs and hung him upside down (she swung him around a bit too). Whose afraid now? He wouldn’t dare attack her! Even so, she is most likely going to eat him. No one wants a mean rooster! I am so thankful she took him, otherwise my husband was going to shoot and bury him, which would have been a huge waste of a life. I recommend trying to find someone who will humanly kill and eat him for you if you cannot.

Anyone who knows roosters behave like that! 🙄, he only attack me and my daughter sometimes, he doesn’t attack my husband or our friends. I can handle him because anyway he doesn’t attack me all the time, I just don’t want my daughter to be scared of anything in our heavenly farm. And just so you know, there’s people who don’t care if the roaster attack because is very rare to fine a rooster who has NEVER behaved like a rooster.
thank you for your reply, I hope this answers your question.

I’m not saying there isn’t someone that “might” take him, but pay for him as well? I gave my friend $160 to take my rooster away because in exchange for her taking him, I’m getting her 4 female cats fixed. Of course, I would have done that anyways! I hope you find someone to take him. It really is awful to be afraid to go in your backyard because of a rooster. I still feel a little nervous now that mine is gone (he’s a white Silkie). It seems silly, but for over a month, he would attack me every time I turned around - and it hurt! I hope you find a home for yours very soon, free or otherwise. :)

I am training that out of my lavender orp cockerel with great success. But, I'm not doing things that can hurt him, such as swinging him upside down. I use chicken language. When he pecked at me, I pecked back, using a finger and thumb action. Also, I put my hand on his back and gently, but firmly, pressed down until he was squatted like a hen, and held him there for 20-30 seconds. If he tries to challenge me I take a step toward him and stand there until he backs off.

There are a lot of articles here about roosters. This one by Two Crows is a good one.

How old is your cockerel? I am assuming he is not a year old yet.

Does this make them stop being mean to everyone? If a small child visited, would they be safe? Please let me know. I think I would be afraid to ever get another rooster, but I did think it was good for the hens to have him. And yeah, the spinning my rooster around made me a bit sad, however; as much as he hurt me and made my life miserable, my sympathy didn’t run as deep as it normally would have.
