I hope this is the correct place to ask this. We received an orpington rooster a bit over two weeks ago. He showed no signs of disease so we began to introduce him to the flock. He is only six months and quite docile and the hens are all bigger than him! The intro didn't work out so we tried the next day. He would squat down and cry so we would take him away from the hens. We were right there so the hens could not have hurt him.
Saturday he started to be listless - the only sign. The previous owner throught he had coccidosis and we started him on Corrid which he has been on since 7/30. She thinks it is due to stress of having all these big hens coming at him. He has no symptoms except laying down most of the day. He eats and drinks. He and the hens see each other through a wire fence. I hope this doesn't sound confusing but I need advice.
1. would it sound like coccidosis?
2. could he just be very afraid of the hens at his age?

Bringing a new bird into an existing flock may cause him to get and outbreak of Cocci.
You may have different strains of Cocci on your land compared to where he came from.
It is very safe to go ahead and treat him with Corid just make sure he is drinking the water or it won't work.

yes, that is what she said also. I have been watching him alot and he is drinking the water thankfully so he has two days of meds in him already. I hope it helps!
