Lavender over Light Sussex

All this genetics talk makes me wish I'd paid more attention in biology.... both times.

Just Coronation mutts, that's all. I have no intention of going any further. I just like the Coronations and thought this would be a fun project.

Actually, I have PURE Coronation Sussex eggs on order, and should get them in a couple weeks. I really really hope that hatch goes well ! ! !

Beth, You are welcome to any of my eggs, anytime! You just name it!

Oooh- I'd love some really Orp-y looking ones! Even if they are "mutts"- I like crossing everything with Orp hens. I'm sure I'll have some roosters in my lav ameraucana hatch and I'm going to put them over my black orp girls. Trying to make the biggest, fluffiest, friendliest EEs possible in lavender (& blues, but that's a different pen)

Did I see on the lav orp thread that you got some mottleds in this hatch?

I love the coronation color also but the prices are just too expensive for me what I see people advertising for their chicks or eggs. I can always get on the internet and look at other peoples chickens though.

Good luck Kathy, I hope you get what you are trying for.

It looks like, as we predicted earlier, that your Lav roo was and if he was pure gold gened, when bred to your Coro hens, would technically make sexlinks. But with them being black it would be hard to until their leakage start coming out if it even does, but even though it is pretty obvious anyway, that one with the gold leakage is a pullet. If you bred her to a Coro roo she would produce silver gened pullets and roos that are split for both silver and gold genes.
