I bought this chick as a "barnyard mix" cross along with a purebred silver laced Orpington chick last night. S/he is three weeks old. The woman I bought the chicks from told me that the cross chicks are the result of a lavender English Orpington roo over an Easter Egger (did not see the mother because I was rushed picking up the chicks due to an incoming storm, not sure her coloring but I'm assuming dark?).

This is the chick and here is my question: Which features genetically are more likely to be the dominant features, Orp or EE? Does this look more like an Orp chick to you guys or an EE chick? And if it IS a pullet, what are my chances genetically of it throwing a bright egg? (I'm kind of thinking it's a cockerel though...)

I'm just curious what people think it might turn out to look like in a few months. The chick's name is Drogon.

Generally in my experiences when crossing an Easter egger with any breed the pea comb is dominant, as well as the muffs. I see a single comb on your chick.

So you think maybe this one might be crossed with something else? The woman I got them from was really nice (and had some DAMNED good looking Orps, best I've seen outside of a competition photo) but didn't seem very knowledgeable otherwise, so she could be mistaken about what it was crossed with. I'm not sure what all stock she has either other than the Orps, looked like a bunch of different types but I was in and out quick so I didn't get much of a look. Guess we'll have to wait and see?

Mixes can be hard to guess sometimes. You generally need to wait until they mature. It does look big and stocky like an Orpington. By that comb and lack of feathers I would guess it's a rooster. It's comb will turn pink by 5-6 weeks if it is.

I would agree that is suspiciously looking like a cockerel, the comb is developing already and is sizeable for 3 weeks

If I had to guess at this stage I'd also say cockerel.
As far as if it is an orp/EE cross I'd believe that.
For me EE is just a label thrown around way to often and attached to way to many birds. At one time an EE was a hybrid of a blue egg layer and any other breed. Its now used for that as well as poorly bred or not bred to color ameraucana, any hatchery blue egg layer, any bird that had a blue egg layer somewhere in its ancestry or even any that were thought to have.
They can be any color, any comb, any shank color, muffs, beards, neither, etc. etc.
So when she said an EE well that could pretty much be anything.
